Fitou L’Exception is a powerful and seductive Fitou with a distinctive hint of spice and intense complexity.

The grapes come from some of the finest, most sought after locations in the Appellation and are only selected after complying with strict quality controls.

Its history

The grapes for Fitou L’Exception have been hand picked at full maturity and selected from only the finest, most sought-after locations on the hills around Tuchan and Paziols – the most prestigious wine growing area in Fitou. The selected vineyards cover 10 ha on varied terroirs with vines of up to 80 years old and yields as low as 25 hl/ha.

Its character

Tasting: a very elegant and seductive Fitou with exceptional length and concentration. The palate is attractive, rich, and opulent with good ripe fruit and plenty of depth. L’Exception displays rich ripe raspberry, blackberry flavours with characteristic spiciness of Fitou. Carefully balanced oak ageing to enhance the structure and power of the wine.
Serve at 17° C

Its development

The Syrah is harvested at 13° from mainly schist terroirs and vinified for 15 days after destalking; the wine is then aged for a year in new oak barrels. The Carignan and Grenache are also vinified in small vats of 120 hl and the Carignan aged in oak of one year’s wine, for a year.
