Fitou Les Crouzels is rich and powerful, with good tannic structure. Aged in small oak barrels, this wine is produced from the unique, low yielding Crouzels vineyard.
The Crouzels vineyard is a classic example of the level of quality that can be achieved for a Fitou.
The Crouzels vineyard, situated near the village of Tuchan, is one of the most characteristic of Haut Fitou. It has a unique soil combination of schist and sand and its location benefits from all the favours of the climate around the Mont Tauch. The high average age of the Carignan and Grenache vines, gives low yields and grapes of great quality.
Tasting: a beautiful garnet colour, with a nose of garrigue, with woody notes, a mix of spices and a hint of vanilla. Les Crouzels is full bodied, powerful, with harmonious tannins and good length.
Serve at 17° C
The Carignan undergoes carbonic maceration for 20 days. Syrah and Grenache, once destalked, are fermented with a daily racking. The Syrah is then aged in new French oak from November to June and the Carignan is part aged in one year oak barrels from January to June.
