Mont Tauch growers win the Mont Tauch Wild Boar Rugby Challenge for the second year running
The Mont Tauch growers triumphed again for the second year running in the Mont Tauch Wild Boar Rugby Challenge which took place near the cooperative in the village of Tuchan in the heart of the Languedoc at the weekend.
Les Marcassins (aptly meaning young wild boars) - a team of youngsters from the cooperative outpaced their opponents and sped to victory in the all French final of this fun annual non contact tag rugby competition in which teams from the UK wine trade and press take on teams from the Mont Tauch cooperative and its growers.
This year the UK was proudly represented by a mixed team from Thierry’s under the expert guidance of their head coach, Thierry’s MD Dominque Vrigneau, a team of Majestic store managers who had gained their places in the team by winning a Mont Tauch sales incentive, a women’s team and a mixed trade press team who finished top out of the UK contingent.
Jean Marc Astruc, President of the Mont Tauch growers, presented the winners with the cup, and after the tournament, the teams relaxed with a post match pétanque competition, a tour of the Mont Tauch cooperative and a delicious whole wild boar roast.
Katie Jones, UK Sales and Marketing Director comments, “We are delighted by the success of the Challenge again this year and the support from the UK trade and press, and hope that they will return again next June to try and stop the growers’ winning streak and secure a British victory.”
