The winery at Mont Tauch sits at the foot the 900 meter high Mont Tauch mountain, looking over the village of Tuchan.
Michel Marty has been the winemaker at Mont Tauch since the early nineties. He is a perfectionist, and so consistently works to make wines of the best possible quality. Year after year, in strict accordance with the rules set by the AOC, Michel and his cellar masters strive to perfect subtly blended wines.
In order to achieve the best results, over the last ten years the Cooperative’s imposing original stone building, which was built in 1913, has been renovated and equipped with the latest facilities for winemaking. The new facilities include a number of small vats, which allow greater flexibility to vinify small batches from single vineyards owned by individual growers. For the first time this allows individual growers the chance to taste their own wines and become more involved in the wine making process. Thus the vignerons become wine producers rather than just grape growers.
Various styles of wine are produced, embodying both the charm of the region with its eclectic mix of soils, microclimates and herbs, and the determination of individual coop members to demonstrate the maximum character from their own terroir.
Mont Tauch has its own bottling line along with a stock of French oak barrels and the Mont Tauch bottling plant has recently acquired a screwcap machine.
In order to continue developing the quality of the wines, on-going projects at Mont Tauch include further development of the vinification plant and an underground oak ageing cellar.
