Vineyards & Villages

Mont Tauch’s vineyards are planted in some of the most diverse soils of all vineyard land in France. It is this diversity that gives the complexity to our wines. Schist, limestone clay, red Mediterranean soils, marl - are just a few of the different soil types in Mont Tauch’s vineyards. This diversity enables each grape variety to flourish in its ideal environment.

The main grape varieties grown in the Mont Tauch vineyards are Carignan, Grenache and Syrah.

Conscious of a long tradition of wine production, Mont Tauch has retained the best Carignan and Grenache vines, which grow on the surrounding steep slopes or coteaux. The average age of these vines is 50 years old. They are naturally low yielding and this factor, along with the region’s low rainfall and poor soils, contributes to the quality of the wines.

The whites and rosés are made from a blend or single varietals Grenache Blanc or Gris, Maccabeu, Muscat, Cinsault.

More recently, Merlot and Marselan have been introduced in richer soils to enhance Vin de Pays.

The unique identity of each of the four villages around which the Mont Tauch vineyards grow, plays an essential part in the quality and diversity of the wines. Read on to learn more about each of them:
